I just realized today that I spend less and less time reading the RSS feeds I’m subscribed to (though I started using Feedly right after Google Announced shutting down Reader), but I spend more and more just reading what the same blogs and news site read… Right within my Facebook news feed:

It took some careful and consistent ‘hide all from this friend’ actions, to weed out all those distant and abroad contacts that I love to be able to get in touch with, but where I am less interested in their daily lives. But, it’s finally paying off. My Facebook newsfeed is now a mix of different news sources, mixed with the occasional share / opinion of a friend I really want to hear from.
And I like it. Facebook wants to be more of a news source than a ‘meme share’ itself it seems, and I couldn’t agree more.
So, if you are looking for a nice Google Reader replacement: try Facebook.
